Nashville Neighborhood Guide:

Donelson

About Donelson

Donelson—or “Hip Donelson,” as the locals dub it—has seen exciting growth over the last decade as it steps into the rank as one of Nashville’s hottest neighborhoods. Bordered by the Cumberland River, Stewarts Ferry Pike, the Stones River, and Interstate 40, Donelson offers a down-home feel while still being less than 10 miles from downtown. The Music City Star, a commuter rail line, has a stop in Donelson, making for an easy commute downtown. Additionally, Nashville International Airport is only a couple miles away.

The Market

Founded in the postwar years and developed through the 70s, you’ll mostly find red brick, detached ranch-style homes with spacious yards.

The Lifestyle

Established residents and young families alike call Donelson home. Enjoy the charms of a tight-knit, quiet community with mom-and-pop diners, lively pubs, a weekly Farmers Market, and antique stores. Active types can get their fill of the great outdoors with close access to miles of greenway, golf courses, parks, and Nashville’s popular Percy Priest Lake. The Grand Ole Opry—the show that made country music famous—is found within Donelson’s borders, as well as the sprawling Opry Mills Mall and equally vast Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.
